More about Tanzanites...

Tanzanite is a rare and much sought-after stone which is exclusively found in a small region within Tanzania, East Africa. It has rocketed in popularity due to its rarity and its splendid displays of blue and purple hues. Tanzanite is heat treated after mining in order to enhance the magnificent colours, hence the wide range of colour variations. The more blue in colour, the more rare and expensive the stone. A tanzanite can be found to suit any taste and budget. Tanzanites are striking gems which are truly from the heart of Africa.
However, Tanzanite is a relatively soft and delicate stone which needs a certain amount of care. Tanzanite should be encased in a protective setting to minimize knocks and scratches. And, in fact, Tanzanites are probably better suited to dress rings, ear rings or pendants, rather than jewellery pieces which are exposed to daily wear and tear. Tanzanite should not be cleaned with jewellery cleaner and should not be exposed to harsh chemicals and extreme temperatures.

More about Platinum...

Platinum is one of the most precious metals found in the world today. Even more precious than gold, platinum has earned a reputation as a symbol of prosperity and prestige. The weight and density of Platinum add to the feeling of value and wealth and its unique characteristics make it an exceptional metal of choice.
Platinum is a 95% pure metal, containing very few alloys (whereas 18ct gold is only 75% pure). This means that platinum is hypoallergenic and ideal for persons with sensitive skin. Because platinum is so pure, it has a magnificent white luster which will never tarnish (unlike white gold which needs to be repeatedly plated to retain whiteness). Platinum is also a strong, hard-wearing and durable metal which is resistant to scratches, shape changes and thinning. The strength of platinum makes it an ideal metal for securely protecting your valuable gems and is the perfect metal for tension set pieces. It is advisable to set Tanzanites in Platinum in order to protect this delicate gem and to enhance the colours against the brilliant white platinum.
